Oscar 2013-Gown wishes

Usually on the big red carpet events the house of Elie Saab wins. Ever since Halle Berry in 2002 showed up in a sexy dark red dress to accept her first Academy Award, Elie Saab has become the most worn designer by royalties and celebrities. So, I do expect to see some of his dresses on the red carpet in front of Kodak theater.

These are dresses I would like Amy Adams to wear. I think she could choose Elie Saab:

On the other side, I think that Naomi Watts will choose Zac Posen or some other not so worn designer. These I are my ¨suggestions¨:

I believe that Jessica Chastain will choose Alexander McQueen. Personally I would enjoy to see her wearing yellow or some really bright color, but since lately she was wearing both blue, red and pink, maybe she will surprise everybody and come dressed in black or white, or some beige-gold variant:

According to tabloids Jennifer Lawrence will wear a dress specially made for her, but I have no doubts that latest Dior collection will show up on the red carpet. This white gown is my favorite from Spring-Summer 2013 collection:

Goya Awards 2013

Just one week before Oscars, Spanish movie stars gathered together in Madrid to celebrate the biggest movie event in the country.

The most amazing outfit had Nieves Alvarez, former model and author of the show ¨Solo Moda¨. She was wearing a long black and white gown by Stephane Rolland. The dress was ¨decorated¨with one big red flower and golden belt. Nieves looked sensational. The only think I could complain about is her choice of silver accessories, but even with them I fall in love with this look.

Other ladies looked beautiful as well. The second best look of the evening was one of young actress Dafne Fernandez. She looked lovely in silver Stella McCoartney gown, while Macarena Garcia chose Dior orange and simple dress. The dress matched her dark hair perfectly.

Michelle Jenner wore white Andrew Gn gown and Clara Lago was in elegant dark blue Zuhair Murad gown. Of course, she was not the only one who chose Z. Murad on this occasion. Actress Amaia Salamanca had a dress of same pattern like Blake Lively´s dress from last year during ¨Savages¨premiere in Los Angeles. Here I didn´t like the clutch but her outfit was sexy:

On the other side there were as usual examples of beautiful dresses being destroyed by bad attitude, makeup, hair or accessories. Ana Obregon, famous Spanish tv personality, looked ridiculous in red Alexander McQueen gown (before worn by Rita Ora) and Goya Toledo made something I never thought it would be possible- her haircut and her destroyed an Elie Saab look:

Oscar predictions 2013

I am really excited about this years Oscars. It is hard to guess who will be the winners, but that makes it even more interesting.

Here are my predictions:

Best Motion Picture: Argo
Why: I think everybody liked this movie, and I think it will be one of the movies people will want to see  ten, twenty years from today and they will still find it nice.
Second choice: Amour
Why: Warm and well told story, artistic and romantic approach. The only problem is that since The artist won last year, it will probably not happen another European movie win.

Best actor: Daniel Day-Lewis for Lincoln
Why: Because he won all other awards, and everybody are talking about him. It will be a surprise if he doesn't win his third Oscar.

Best actress: Emanuelle Riva
Why: This lady had a role of her life at the age of 80+. That doesn't happen too often, especially for female actresses. After they turn 50 years, they don't get too many opportunities to play leading role.

Best supporting actor: Robert de Niro
Why: I don't know why, but I found his acting amazing in Silver Linings Playbook. A father who has difficulties to approach his ill son, and has his own issues to deal with, and chooses sport as a bond between them etc. I think his performance deserves an Oscar.

Best supporting actress: Helen Hunt
Why: Anne Hathaway won all other awards, and is the biggest favourite to win her first Oscar, but Helen Hunt showed all her talent in a movie based on a true story, which makes you think about other people and their needs.

Best directing: I am not sure: Michael Haneke, Ang Lee or Steven Spielberg
Why: My personal choice would be Michael Haneke, and then Ang Lee, but Spielberg made a real 'American' movie and maybe Academy will appreciate that.

Best foreign movie: Amour
Why: This is one of the best movies of 2012, and one of the best European movies ever. I watched Norwegian Kon-Tiki and red sone good critics about it, but my opinion is that that movie is not good,  because it doesn't have story, character development, it is all about effects and picture quality. Hope they won't win.

We will see :)

BAFTA Awards 2013

The oldest British film event was held this week in London. The winners were:
Argo- best movie
Ben Affleck- best director
Daniel Day Lewis- best actor
Emmanuelle Riva- best actress

And, as usually, everybody tried to look sensational. My picture of the evening is a picture of these handsome men, all awarded by this prestigious award:

Ben Affleck, Daniel Day-Lewis, Bradley Cooper, George Clooney

Celebrity guests apparently had great time in rainy London:

Jennifer Garner helping George Clooney

Ang Lie received two awards for his film "Life of Pi"

However, the moment I expected mostly was the red carpet arrivals and all those beautiful dresses there. This year celebrities really showed appreciation for BAFTA- many, many A-list celebrities and many, many great designs on actresses.

The best looking lady was undoubtedly French beauty Marion Cotillard. As usual she was in Dior, and as usual she looked divine. I would expect this kind of look to be reserved for Oscars, but since she was not nominee maybe she won't go to Las Angeles later in February. Anyway, perfect hair, perfect makeup, sensational result:

The second best look of the evening was Jessica Chastain, wearing elegant blue Roland Maured gown. Her red hair matched incredibly the color of her dress, and it was impossible not to notice her:

Elie Saab had a magical evening on this years BAFTA Awards, because two gorgeous ladies were wearing black Elie Saabs designs. Firstly, Amy Adams, glowed in a long, sexy gown and then Sarah Jessica Parker showed up wearing bravely a simple, but effective, black suit. She reminded me on Carrie Bradshaw :)

On the other side, the biggest disappointment was Jennifer Lawrence. She wore really nice Dior gown, but watt look hair does never look good or elegant:
